These what's left of three small statues that date back to this time of primitive religion. They were found in the Indus River Valley and would have been used by people in the Harappan Civilization.

This clay bull figurine is from the Indus Valley and dates back to 2000 BCE. This civilization differed from others because of its high level of city planning. Archaeologists have found great numbers of small animal figurines such as this one. They were used as toys for kids, used in religious rituals, and also buried their dead. They also made small statues of other animals, like sheep. What we know about the civilization of the ancient Indus River Valley comes from relics like this, because we still don’t know how to read their writing. Once we crack that code, we will learn a lot more about them!
